Quick note

You might remember that a few months ago I was working on projects for the Stampin’ Up! Artisan Award.   We had to create 10 projects – 5 cards, 3 scrapbook pages and 2 3-d items.  I was REALLY hoping I would win.  Stampin’ Up! chose 10 winners and the were all notified by the 26th.  Unfortunately I was not one of them.  I am so bummed.  But the good news is that now I can share my projects.  I will start that next week.  There are several other demonstrators that also submitted entries and didn’t win and they will be posting their projects too.  I’ll be adding links to their blogs too so you can see what was entered.  There were some really talented stampers that entered and didn’t win – so I can’t wait to see what the winners sent in!  Congratulations to the 10 winners –  they won’t be able to post their projects until after convention.

Thanks for everyone that supported and encouraged me to enter the contest!  Maybe next year…….

More Blog Awards

During my hectic week of the Royal Blog tour I received two more blog awards!  How fun is that?

The first one was another Sunshine Award from Melissa Carr – here is a link to her blog – and if you look through some her posts she has been following some baby birds too – with some cute pictures of the fuzzy little finches from Mother’s Day –   http://homeschoolstamperof3.blogspot.com/2010/05/sunshine-award.html

Thank you Melissa for the Sunshine Award!

And then I received another Blog Award from Juliette Chapman

The Beautiful Blogger Award!

I really do feel special and I’m so thrilled to know that my blog is on this list! Sorry it took me so long to get it on here.

I need to pass the award on to some other beautiful bloggers – I could choose the ones I gave the Sunshine Award to but I think I will choose some different ones this time.  And in addition to that I have to tell you 10 things about me that you may not know.  So I’ll do that first and then I’ll add some links to Beautiful Bloggers.

10 things you might not know about me:

  1. I graduated from Ga Tech with a B.S. in Information and Computer Science
  2. Growing up my childhood sport was sailing – I sailed until I went away to college
  3. My parents are immigrants from Germany
  4. I have a cousin that has a rock band in Germany called Die Happy
  5. I have lived my entire life in Georgia within the metro Atlanta area (5 different counties)
  6. I have never lived by myself – I went from home, to college, to Greg
  7. I got my ears pierced when I was a junior in high school
  8. I love dogs, birds and animals – but you probably figured that out
  9. I have an elephant collection
  10. Greg gave me my first dog while we were dating – a Miniature Schnauzer named Skip.

And now to pass the award on to some other Beautiful Bloggers:

– Becky –  Inking Idaho

– Monica – My Many Many Passions

– Patty – Patty’s Stamping Spot

– Amy – U Stamp 4 Fun

– Kerin – Stamps, Paper, Glitter

Thank you for all the blog awards – it is so fun to be recognized!

Bouquet Bunch and a Color Challenge

This morning I made 3×3 tags that I needed for some thank yous on my customer orders and decided to use a color challenge that I found and the new Bouquet Bunch stamp set.  This set will be available in the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini Catalog  beginning May 1st.  Demonstrators get to pre-order items from the mini catalogs so we can start working on ideas and samples.  This is also a 2-step stampin’ set which I’ve been using a lot of this month since there are some on special.

The color challenge is called Curtain Call Color Challenge – Act 26.

I have not seen this one before so it is new to me.  I liked the colors for this challenge so I thought I would give it a try.  The colors are Crushed Curry, Basic Grey, Going Grey and Whisper White.

The flowers are stamped once on the White square and once one another piece of white and cut out.  I colored them in with the Crushed Curry marker and then sponged around them with Crushed Curry ink.  I think really only some are flowers and some are leaves but I wanted the look of a full flower tree so I just colored them all.

The pot is stamped on Crushed Curry card stock and cut out.  I tied a piece of white embroidery thread around it – I think I should have used linen thread though because it is finer than what I used.  The image of the pot has a string tied around it so I was trying to include that as a real item.

The little thank you is from the Teeny Tiny wishes stamp set and then punched with the Curly Label punch and tucked under the gray square.  This little stamp set is just the right size for 3×3 cards and you can mix and match the pieces for different variations.

I received another Sunshine Award today – this one came from Martha Lu – this is what she sent me –

    Sunshine Award

Look at the surprise I found last night – I was given the Sunshine Award!

How special is that?  I received this very nice comment from Shari –

“Oh Monika I love the way you did the shadow on this card – so simple!  I really do enjoy your stamping art and because it brings so much sunshine into my life, I am sharing the Sunshine award with you. The details are on my blog which is http://southerncaliforniastamper.blogspot.com. Thanks for blessing my life with your work of heart. :)”

Wasn’t that such a nice thing to say?

These are the rules for this Sunshine Award:

    1.  Put the Sunshine Award on your blog and/or within your post.
    2.  Pass the award to 12 other bloggers.
    3.  Link the nominees within your post.
    4.  Let them know they received this award by leaving a comment on their blog.
    5.  Share the love and link to the person from whom you received the award.

How exciting to bring sunshine into other lives!  That’s one of the best things about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.  I love it.  I needed some sunshine today because it is raining here.  So now I have to spread the sunshine on to others.  I have to nominate 12 more stampers to receive the Sunshine Award – these are in no particular order and it was hard to stop at 12 once I got going through my blog favorites.

I could keep going and list more – I have a long list of blogs – I don’t visit them all – all the time – because I would never leave my computer – which is already a big problem of mine anyway.  When I need inspiration I visit these and others on my list.  I’m posting this to my blog and then I’ll go leave comments on each of the blogs – but it might take me until tomorrow before I can get to them all.

I hope you all have a Sunshiney day!
