Ok – It’s here. I made a video. My first one. So let me know what you think and leave me a comment. I’m still learning how to do all this. Ryan helped me with some of the editing. I’m sure I’ll get better. Any way this was a neat technique that we learned at convention in the I am Creative class. It was one of the bonus classes. We had the pleasure of spending the evening with Shannon West and 5 of the Stampin’ Up! Concept Artists. Each shared different techniques, tips and tricks that they use. Here is my completed card.
In the video I’m going to show you how to create the chevron background. It’s super easy and a new way to use your embossing folders. Let’s see if I can attach this video now.
So what do you think? If you get my blog updates in an email you may need to actually go to my blog to see the video.
To finish the card I used the Big Shot Die-Cutting machine and the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die to cut the two butterflies – Summer Starfruit and Basic Gray. The larger butterfly is stamped with the large image from the Lacy & Lovely stamp set. The Gray one is plain but you could add the chevrons to it too – I thought about that after I was done and didn’t go back to change it. Then stamped the image on Very Vanilla and punch out with the Elegant Butterfly punch. Layer the three butterflies together and staple in the center. Attach to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals over the designer paper strip.

Nice video! I bet you feel great having completed the new craft of video making. BTW the comment button didn’t connect to anything. I got here through the see all comments button. Good luck in your new venture. Stasia
Thanks Stasia – I’m not sure what was going on with the comments – but you did get here! Monika
WooHoo, Look at you! Nice work Monika! Here’s to many, many more videos!
Love the card & technique too!
Thanks Annie! I have a second video planned hopefully I’ll have it done soon. I just have to get used to talking “in front” of an audience (even when it is an empty room) – it is not in my comfort zone.
Monika
Great job with your first video. You did wonderful compared to what I would do. Love the Technique also.
Thanks Jonia! I’m sure yours would be just as good as mine – I have many flaws. I need to learn to talk louder and not sound terrified.
Monika
Monika, Love your video! Thanks for sharing such a great tip from convention! Hope to see more videos from you!
Thanks! I took lots of notes at convention so I’ll try to share some more of those ideas. Since not that many people went to the bonus class there may be new tips that others don’t know yet.
Monika
Hi I like the card and the video. Do you need to let the versamark ink dry before putting it onto the card? What are the dimensions for the card? I like the card a lot. It was kinda hard to hear ya but I don’t have but my pc speakers. thank you so much for sharing. you did a great job!!
I did not wait to let it dry. I added the dimensions of the card stock pieces on my blog post supply list. I will try to talk louder next time – I’m just not very loud that’s why I don’t like to talk in front of people. Making the video was a big step for me but I did it. And I’m planning to try another.
Monika
I loved your video! Can’t believe it was your first. You are a pro! The technique is good too–and so simple. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Leishman!
Congrats on creating your first video! You did a great job : ) I’m sorry that I cannot offer any advise – yet. My ten year-old keeps telling me I need to make videos. She’s probably right.
Thanks, I had intended to try this last year it has just taken me a while to actually do it. We should listen to our children.
wow! i expected you to put it through the Big Shot! I like that this makes the embossing folders accessible for those stampers without the machine!
i suppose you could heat emboss that too, right? fantastic!
don’t be afraid to talk to your viewers like you talk to the gals in your classes. you have such good techniques to share; you’re going to be a natural. keep at it!
Thanks Jenn,
Yes you could throw some embossing powder on there too. I haven’t done that yet but plan to.
Great video! I have been thinking about making some video’s my self. What type of camera did you use and did you use a tri-pod? Joni Doolin jonidoolin@hotmail.com
Thanks Joni. I used my little cannon camera with the video option and set it up on one of those flexible tripods. I just wanted to see if it would work and it did. I actually had it set up right in front of me – so my hands reached around and I could see what the camera was filming. It might not work for everything but for now it was ok.
Good video. I think as you become more comfortable, your voice will be stronger. Love this card and the new technique.
Thanks Pat. I’m sure you are right.
Monika, You did a great job on the video. Very easy to follow and well done. Can not believe this was your first video. I need to get into the 21st century.
Thanks Vida!
Wonderful video! I would never have thought to use my embossing folders as “stamps!” Great job on the video, too – I look forward to many more!!
