UDI Color Challenge #44

Today is the best Tuesday!  Why?  Because I am on my way to the Stampin’ Up! Convention!  Yeah – so much fun, so many friends, so many ideas….I can’t wait to get there.  I’m leaving all the boys behind and getting a full 6 days of girl time!

I have been super busy and away from home a lot – so my blog posts have been a little sparse – hopefully I’ll have time to set some up to post while I am away (like this one) or actually post from convention (if we have internet access).  So on to today’s color challenge from Utah Diva’s….

This weeks challenge is some bright summer colors.  Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, and Riding Hood Red.   At first I thought what am I going to do with all those colors – they are pretty together but I just don’t know where to go with them.  They made me thing of a rainbow – which always makes me think of Roy G. Biv.  Do you know what that is?  I can’t even remember how long ago I learned that – probably elementary school somewhere.  But it is something I won’t ever forget.  Roy G. Biv – that is the colors of the rainbow – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet.  And this weeks color challenge is real close to including all the colors of the rainbow.

I was caught up with the fact that there were five colors and some how wanted to have 5 different things like a rainbow of color – I thought letters and was thinking of 5 letter words.  And then I remembered the single stamp in the Summer Mini catalog – Hello Blossoms – that’s a five letter word – Hello.  So I pulled out the set and did some quick playing around with it.

Ultimately I covered up the Hello and went with the 5 blossoms and this is the result –

I ended up with a cute little 3×3 card!  I stamped the Hello Blossom stamp in Pear Pizzazz ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  The “grass” at the bottom is where I dragged the edge of the ink pad over the card stock – it gave the look of little hills of grass.  To add the color i decided to use the Sweet Buttons Embosslit and I cut one set of buttons in each color.  I put them in order of the rainbow.  Then I decided to add the little crinkled flowers to the center and pop in a tiny pearl.  Perfect result I think.  The buttons in the back give each flower a different personality.  The greeting is from a new Hostess stamp set called Perfect Words.   I chose the “you’re the BEST” – because you guys are the best!  The new Hostess program is going to be awesome.  My first hostess got TWO half-price items!! And she was able to get all the hostess sets that she wanted – instead of being limited to quantities and levels.

I hope you have a great week and if I don’t post this week – don’t despair, I’ll be back with posts after convention including all my convention swaps – although I hope to have those scheduled while I’m away.    Be back soon!

To much to do…. So little time

Just a quick hello to let you know I’m still here.  Just busy, busy.  Getting ready for convention, prepping for the classes that I had this week.  And we have been out of town so much the past few weeks that I can’t get it all done.  Here are a few pictures of my swaps….

That’s 105 3×3 cards for a swap I am in on Thursday afternoon at Convention – are you in my swap then you will get one.  I’ll show the actual card itself hopefully next week otherwise it will be after I get back – just depends on if I can get the posts written and scheduled before I leave.

And here is another one –

That’s 60 FULL cards for the UStamp swap on Wednesday afternoon.  If you are in that swap with me then you will get one of these.  And if not you’ll have to wait for my blog post to see it and the step by step instructions.  This one was way too many steps for such a large number or cards – I need to remember to cut back next time.  This card has taken me the longest to get ready.  It uses craft ink and heat embossing and dry embossing, and masking and I really like it but I don’t think I want to make any more…..

And look at this one

That’s the parts for 50 Full cards.  This one is my Shoebox swap on Tuesday night.  I had this card planned but wanted to use one of the new stamp sets from the catalog.  So I placed my order on July 1st with 2day air shipping – paid extra for that – and with the weekend and the holiday it all got here on Thursday night, but Friday was class day, so this is what I spent most of Saturday working on – this and finishing those Ustamp cards.  And prepping for today’s class.  Anyway this one is all set – 25 completed cards and 25 kits for the swap on Tuesday.  I hope to see you there.  And if you aren’t there I will have the card and directions posted later  – this one is a peek-a-boo card – that’s what I call it – maybe it has another name.

And I still have more things to get done –

Anyway – gotta go – i may not have any more posts for a while – we’ll see how my time goes…..i leave early Tuesday morning for convention…

At the Beach

We went to the beach about 2 weeks ago and my SIL arranged for a photographer to come and take family photos.  I took the one of us and put it on a My Digital Studio scrapbook page.  The layout for this page was from one that Heather Summers did – she is most definitely the queen of MDS.  I used the Elegant Soiree Designer Paper Digital Download for mine.  It was one of my favorite papers from the last catalog but I can still use all the designs in My Digital Studio and even print them out for cards or other projects if I want to.

This page also uses the Stitching download, Baker’s Twine, various buttons and the antique brads.    Each piece of paper is a filled punch shape.  And you can adjust your papers inside your punch – you can move them around or zoom in – I did both when creating this page.

Other exciting news for My Digital Studio –

Putt Putt Fun

Putt Putt Fun!  That’s what the kids like to do when we are at the beach.  I think they played three different times this year.  I put the pictures on a My Digital Studio scrapbook page.  This is actually a template that comes with the Forest Friends stamp set.  The template is an 8×8 template but this page is actually a 12×12.  I have figured out something that you can do in the My Digital Studio software that will let you get doubles out of some of your templates. Do you want to know how?

You will need to use two features that come with the software – one is under the EDIT menu and it is called CHANGE PROJECT SIZE/TYPE.  With this option you can change your 8×8 templates to 12×12 (or 5×5), change your 12×12 templates to 8×8 (or 5×5), and also change your 5×5 templates.  Then to use them in another project you use this other feature that is under the INSERT menu and it is called IMPORT FROM MY PROJECTS (you can also import from the designer templates but it only lets you pick from those that are the same dimensions).

If you follow these steps you’ll be able to pull in templates that were originally different dimensions.  So this is what I did for my 8×8 designer templates –

– create an 8×8 album – call it 8×8 designer templates

– add all of your 8×8 designer templates to the album (or which ever ones you want to convert)

– Select from the Edit menu – CHANGE PROJECT SIZE/TYPE – select photo album and then 12×12 – you can either replace the album or save as new

– once the conversion is complete you will have all the 8×8 templates in a 12×12 format. Now to use them in an album you do this –

– in your exsisting 12×12 album you select from the Insert menu – IMPORT FROM MY PROJECTS.

– then find the album that you created above that contains the 12×12 templates

– select the one you want and insert it into your album

I created multiple albums like this so I could convert the 12×12’s to 8×8’s also – and I seperated them into types of layouts – generic, Holiday, baby, etc.  I also included in the front page of the album a paragraph that said what it was – “these are 8×8 designer templates that I converted to 12×12” – I listed all the template original names that I converted – and added a note that said to use Import from my projects option to use them in a 12×12 album.  That was just in case I forgot what I did it for….

I hope you find that trick helpful!  Have a great day.
