So Happy Scrapbook Layout

Today I have another scrapbook layout to share with you.  I usually post the layouts from my scrapbook classes and I don’t have photos on them.  I add the photos later – at least that is the plan.    This layout was based on one that was in the Stampin’ Success Demonstrator magazine maybe a year or so ago.  It was a single page layout and I modified it to be a double page layout.So-Happy-Scrapbook-Layout

The stamp set that I used is Circle Circus – the circles are stamped and punched and scattered around the layout.  The page has 2 hidden journaling and photo spots.  On the left page there is a pocket where you can add some hidden journaling.  It was made with the Petite Pocket Die.

The tag pulls out.  And then on the right page there is a little flip up page where you can add photos or both a photo and some journaling.

The top part would probably be best for journaling and the bottom for a large photo.  The little love you banner would be attached on the picture.  For this layout I’m not exactly sure which pictures I’m going to put on here yet.

I like the addition of the doilies behind all the circles.  And the little bitty buttons tied with the linen thread.

In case you want an update on the Bluebirds – the momma is sitting on her eggs – we have had some unusually cold days this week – we are a good 20-30 degrees below normal!   Today is sunny and she has been out a lot eating – it is a little bit warmer than it has been and hopefully will continue to get warmer.  It is now day 6 – so she is about half way through incubating the eggs.  Tomorrow I’ll try to get outside and refill the feeders – I had to get more regular seed at the bird store today.  I have peanut splits and some suet out there and that’s what they have been eating.  Not just the bluebirds – there have been lots of birds out today eating.

Come back tomorrow for my Create with Connie & Mary challenge card – a pretty Easter card.

Sweet Treat Cup Easter Flowers

Look at these sweet little flower treats (or bonnets they kind of look like that too).

Easter-flower-treats

We made these for my Spring Hands-on class this month.  They are decorated for Easter, but another idea is to make them up for the Red Hat ladies.  I bet they would love them too.  They are really easy to make – just grab your Big Shot.

  • Cut the two largest flowers from the Flower Folds Bigz XL die.  Then run each through the Big Shot again with the embossing folder.  Glue those two flowers together.
  • Fill a Sweet Treat cup with some candy, pull of the liner and attach to the center of the flowers.
  • To cover the edge of the treat cup punch first with the 1-3/4″ circle punch and then punch around the circle with the 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle creating a scallop circle ring that fits around the treat cup – put some adhesive on the back and slide it over the treat cup.
  • Tie some ribbon around the edge of the treat cup – I used the Primrose Petals stitched ribbon.
  • I added a little tag with the word window punch – the Happy Easter is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and the little bunny is from the Itty Bitties stamp set.  Tie the tag on with some Whisper White Baker’s Twine.

That’s it – make up a bunch and set them out for Easter treats.

Sale-A-Bration-Scrapbook

This layout was one that we made in my February Scrapbook class.  It’s a layout that’s all ready for some fun photos!

I’ve been behind with sharing scrapbook layouts so I’ll try to catch up on that this week.  This morning I had a fun class as we made two new layouts.

I didn’t have a chance to share yesterday but I have another update on the bluebirds – yesterday came Egg #5 –

eggs-5

I have had a lot of people ask how am I getting these pictures and where is the nest.  The nest is inside a bird house in my backyard.  The front of the house opens so I wait until the birds leave and then I open it to look inside.  I have been using my iphone to take these pictures – I just stick it inside and click.  Then I close up the house and mom and dad come back.

Now though she will be incubating the eggs and won’t be leaving the nest much.  Today I noticed both the male and female in the yard most of the day – they sat on my porch and on the feeders a lot today (the feeders were empty so I filled them this afternoon).  The incubation is 12-14 days – so now we start counting – today is day 1.  So we should have babies hatching around April 2-4.  Once they hatch I’ll get more time to peek in again as mom and dad will spend most of the day getting food for those babies.   I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks for coming by today!

Create with Oh, Whale!

I’m wrapping up my stay with Create with Connie & Mary – I have just a couple more projects to share for the weekly challenge team.  It has been fun and I’ve enjoyed seeing the creations every week.  Thanks for letting me be part of the fun.

This week at Create with Connie & Mary we were issued a color challenge!  Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, and Not Quite Navy – they make me think of summer and water – so naturally I thought of the Oh, Whale! stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Spring catalog.

2013 Thursday Challenges-007

Now that I had my colors and knew I wanted to use the Oh, Whale stamp set I had to decide what to do with it.  I have wanted for the last few months to make the little envelopes that are shown in the Sale-A-Bration brochure.  I had many people ask how are those made.  Well it’s really hard – you use the Big Shot and the Scallop Envelope Die and fold in the top, then the bottom, then one side and it’s done.  Really – that easy!  Not hard at all.  The little envelope is just folded up so the decorative flap becomes one of the sides that is tucked in.

Here are the are some more details –

  • Cut Daffodil Delight card stock with the scallop envelope die and the Big Shot.  I went ahead and folded it all together the way I wanted to make the pocket.  Then ran it through with the Cloudy Day embossing folder.  Then I went back and added a little bit of Tomobow glue to hold it all shut – I guess I could have added that before embossing – but I didn’t do it that way.
  • I stamped the whale in Not Quite Navy on Whisper White card stock and cut it out with the Happy Whale Clearlits die – isn’t it the cutest thing?  I added a tiny silver mini brad for his eye.
  • Tie a piece of the Marina Mist Striped Organdy Ribbon around the pocket then add the whale on with some dimensionals.
  • I cut a piece of Marina Mist card stock to slide inside the pouch.  I added a whale clip to the end of it.  And on the card I added a little banner.
  • ccmc244-monika
  • The words are from the Oh, Whale stamp set and then cut with the Itty Bitty Banner framelits.
  • Write a sweet little note and give it to someone special!

Visit the Create with Connie & Mary site to see the creations from the rest of the design team and to submit your own creation for this new challenge.  I hope you will play along.  Every week the top 3 are announced from each challenge – maybe this week it will be you!
