Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop Kisses & Hugs

Hello!  It’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is the Kisses & Hugs kit from January 2022.  A group of us get together to create alternate ideas throughout the year and bring them to you in a blog hop.

The Kisses & Hugs kit is not bound to just Valentine’s Day, it works for all love occasions year-round like anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, or those “just because” days.  You’ll see below that I used it for a very special occasion that just happened in our family.

Love You Scrapbook Page

When I saw this month’s kit I knew I wanted to make a scrapbook page.  When all my boys were home for the holidays I had some family photos made.  And we had Ryan and his girlfriend, Emily, and their two dogs take some photos as well.  I was secretly thinking they were practice engagement photos.  And then on New Year’s Eve at midnight Ryan did propose!  So once I had my kit I knew I could use one of the photos and make a scrapbook layout.  The photo I used is one of my favorites of them.

Supply List

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

  • Card stock – Gray Granite Card stock, Neutrals 12×12 Card stock Pack
  • Simply Marbelous Designer Series Paper – free with a $50 order during Sale-A-Bration
  • Kisses & Hugs Add-on

A few notes about my page.

  • Cut apart one of the cards so that I could use the three individual hearts on my page.
  • Use a piece of the gray Simply Marbelous Designer Series paper and cut it in half.  Cover the seam in the center with the large heart.
  • Stamp “love you” multiple times on the vellum heart
  • Stamp “love you” on the heart tag from the Add-on Kit and tie a piece of the gold twine through the hole.

The Kisses & Hugs Kit was designed as a card kit but you can also buy the Kisses & Hugs Add-on which are treat boxes.  I used the heart tag and the gold twine from the add-on as part of my scrapbook page.  And plan to use the boxes for some treats this month.  This is what the add on looks like.  I found some Strawberries & Cream Chocolate Truffles which should fit nicely inside these little treat boxes. You can still order the Kisses & Hugs Add-on – just add it to any of your regular Stampin’ Up! product orders

I hope you liked this alternate idea for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop – Batter Up

I’m back!  Hello my stamping friends.  I’ve been away from my blog for awhile and I’m trying to get back to posting. There just aren’t enough hours in the day.  But it’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. The May kit was called Batter Up and it was a baseball theme but I’ve put a twist on it.

This timeless kit with a “throwback” theme contains enough grand slam supplies to create nine cards—featuring classic colors, pinwheel and pinstripe patterns, and vintage-washed paper pieces. There’s no “batter” way to root, root, root for your home team and honor the all-stars in your life!   There are even some pieces of bubble gum in the kit for a fun twist while you craft or play ball!

Baseball is actually big around here – go Braves! But we are not really a baseball family so I came up with some different alternates for you today.  I do love the printed card bases so I wanted to work with those and the pieces that came in the kit but with a twist.  The color scheme is fun for this time of year – summer, memorial day, and the 4th of July are perfect for a red, white and blue (and yellow) theme – so I did stick with the colors in this kit.  But I added a bundle so that it wasn’t so sports oriented.  I used the Sweet Strawberry Bundle – which is a carry over from the JJ Mini Catalog into the new Annual Catalog.  Yay!

Card Trio

For my cards I decided to pull out the Sweet Strawberry Bundle and use both the stamp set and the punch to add a more feminine twist. On the back of the instruction sheet (don’t you love the new instructions!) you can see the list of coordinating colors and I grabbed my ink in Real Red, Bumblebee, and Soft Suede to use with the Night of Navy ink that came in the kit.  By rearranging the pieces and in some cases stamping on the back – the white side – and punching some flowers, leaves and a strawberry these cards take on a whole new look.

Stamping tips

By sticking with the main colors in the kit the cards kept the same vibe. Since I didn’t want to introduce a shade of green for my leaves I used the Soft Suede instead.  On all three cards I combined sentiments from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and the Batter Up stamp set. To “hide” the baseball elements try stamping on the back side like I did on the baseball card for the mom card, the baseball on the friend card, and on the back of both the base plate and the 4th strip for the thank you card. I did have to pull in just a small scrap of Basic White card stock for the strawberry and large leaves.

Cut or punch the die cut pieces

The striped Real Red/Bumblee piece was cut into 4 strips and I used 2 pieces on the mom card and 2 on the thank you card.  Using the Sweet Strawberry punch you can get flowers out of the small red strip – stamp first with the Real Red ink the outline of the small flower then punch by lining up the end with the small flower.

Supply List

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

  • Card stock – Basic White
  • Sweet Strawberry Bundle = Sweet Strawberry stamp set + Strawberry Builder Punch
  • Ink – Real Red, Bumblebee, Soft Suede
  • Paper Snips

Here is a closer look at the 3 cards I made.

Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop So Cool

Hello my friends.  It’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is April 2021 So Cool kit.

I love this month’s shaped cards!  They are so fun.  My plan is to make up the cards as they are because I think they are cute and fun and happy.  So for my alternate ideas I used the stamp set, the stickers and some of the left over bits.  But first here is a look at the actual kit.

Aren’t those so fun!  I’ve been hoping for a kit with shaped cards for a long time and these are perfect.  So now for my alternate idea.

Quick & Cute Cards

The main focus of these cards is the stickers that were included with the kit.  Any that you don’t use for decorating the envelopes you can use to make more cards.  I added Thick Basic White for the card bases.  The leftover part of the silver glitter paper I carefully cut for small strips to add to my cards.  Each card has some of the fun Bumblebee Baker’s Twine tied around the sticker element.  Oh how I wish I had full rolls of that!

A tip for you with the stickers – I wanted them on Stampin’ Dimensionals so I didn’t need the sticky on the back.  You have a couple of different ways to get rid of it.  One is to stick it to a piece of card stock and then just trim around it.  The other is to use an embossing buddy, powder or something similar to make the sticky part not sticky – I’ve even just stuck it to my jeans at times.

Supply List

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

  • Card stock – Thick Basic White
  • Ink – Old Olive, Bumblebee

I hope you liked this alternate idea for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.
