Eat, Drink & Be Scary

Can you believe Halloween is almost here?  Are you planning a party or just need a fun card to send out – try using the Holiday Invitation stamp set.  It’s perfect for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year and other celebrations.  I paired it with the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper and the new Tangerine Two-Tone Trim to make this fun Halloween card.

Eat-drink-scaryHere is what I used for this card:

  • Basic Black card stock
  • Bermuda Bay card stock
  • Tangerine Tango card stock
  • Whisper White card stock (that’s on the inside of the card so you can write on it)
  • Angled Tag Topper Punch
  • White & Tangerine Tango Two-Tone Trim
  • Motley Monsters Designer Series paper
  • Holiday Invitation stamp set
  • Black Memento Ink
  • Clear Blocks

Another Paper Pumpkin Idea for the September Boo Kit

I actually wrote a post a couple of days ago for my blog – and for some reason it has disappeared.  Sigh.  Weird things happening perhaps it’s time for a new laptop.  So instead of that post here is a different one – I’ll have to recreate the missing one.

I saw a cute card on Tessa Wise’s blog and decided to recreate it using all Stampin’ Up! products including the September Paper Pumpkin kit.  It was the Halloween Boo kit with some great stamps for cards as well as the tags in the box.

PP-Sept-extraHere are some details on the card:

  • Card base is Sahara Sand – the front is embossed with the large polka dots Embossing Folder and stamped with the small splatter dots from Gorgeous Grunge stamp set
  • I layered on some pieces from the Motely Crew Designer Series Paper.  Largest piece has rounded corners.  The small strip is flagged at one end.
  • Stamp the Happy Halloween from the Paper Pumpkin kit on the larger strip and some of the bats on the largest piece.
  • I cut a ghost shape out using the Fall Fest framelits – stamped on eyes and mouth and sponged the edges all with Sahara Sand ink.  Attach with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Tie some Bermuda Bay Bakers Twine around the largest designer paper piece.

I hope you like it.  Here is another view.

Hamburger & Fries anyone?

hamburger-fry-setHow cute are these two?  A matching hamburger box and fry box.  These are two of the new Big Shot dies that came out in this year’s Stampin’ Up! annual catalog.   Kimberly Van Diepen has such pretty creations and these were inspired by a bright and cheery hamburger box project that she made.

hamburger-greenThe hamburger box is made from Kraft card stock.  The Designer Paper is the Gold Soiree Specialty pack.  The stamp set is the Amazing Birthday stamp set.  Some Natural Ribbon and Gold Baker’s Twine tie everything together.

fry-greenThe matching French Fry box also has Gold Sequin trim and Calypso Coral Seam Binding.  All the banners are cut with the Banner Framelits.  This cute set makes full use of the Big Shot.  Fill these beauties with something fun and give to someone special.  Or display in your craft room or special place in your home.

Enjoy your day!

Alaska Day 3 – videos from the Helicopter flight and Glacier landing

I have uploaded two videos from our helicopter flight to the glacier.

The first is after we landed on the glacier.  I walked out away from everyone and tried to do a 360 degree turn all the way around to show where we were.  The pilot is speaking in the background to the rest of the group.

The second video is when we take off from the glacier and then fly back out through the mountains.

I’ll be back with more about Alaska and also some stamping projects coming soon too!

Thanks for checking in with me.

Alaska Day 3 – Helicopter & Glacier Landing

I’m back to share more about our Alaska trip – Day 3 we decided to take an extra excursion in the Denali Park area – a helicopter flight and Glacier Landing!  Quite the exciting excursion!  I was a bit unsure about the helicopter – I’d never been in one before and wasn’t sure what it would be like – I’m not a roller coaster person and was thinking it would be something like that.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was NOT at all like a roller coaster.  And perhaps it depends on the pilot but ours was great and the flight was so smooth.  I sat in the front by the door on the right.  Greg was in the back in the center but said he could see without any problems.  There were 3 couples plus our pilot – 3 of us in the front and 4 people in the back.

Our adventure began at the heliport on the Nenana River.  Everyone had to be weighed so they could put us in the helicopter and keep everything in balance.  They also gave us special glacier boots to wear over our regular shoes.

2014 08 27 0072014 08 27 0122014 08 27 064It was another rainy sort of day with lots of cloud cover.  Up on the glacier it was snowing.  I have photos to post now and some videos I’ll post later once I can get them loaded to youtube.

2014 08 27 0142014 08 27 0172014 08 27 018The area we were in was Yanert Icefield and Mt. Deborah.  According to our pilot who has been flying these trips all summer  – the glacier that he took us too has only had around 20 people on it all year.  Once we landed and he turned off the helicopter and we got out it was incredibly quiet up there.  So peaceful.

Looking at these pictures it was like having summer, fall and winter all in one morning!  I hope you are enjoying the photos of our trip.  There is still lots more to come!
