Hello my friends. It’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop. A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is – My Wonderful Family. It has a beautiful stamp sets and some fun fold cards.
Honor and celebrate YOUR wonderful family with the My Wonderful Family Paper Pumpkin Kit! During this time when so many of us are unable to physically be with our families, sending them our love has never been more important. In April’s thoughtful kit, you’ll find dainty die cuts of lovely leaves, bright butterflies, bluebirds, and other springtime staples you can use to decorate the coordinating tri-fold cards and envelopes. When combined with sentimental stamped phrases and small accents and embellishments, these simply beautiful cards are sure to add a little sunshine to your loved ones’ days.
I my first idea was to create a framed piece with a family photo. And let me say I LOVE how this turned out. It will be on the mantel in the family room. This virus has totally cancelled all our travel plans and that means we won’t get to see our boys in person. Today we should be in Korea visiting our middle son who moved there last September. But our trip was cancelled. I’m not sure when we will actually get to see him in person. And then on Tuesday we found out that Stampin’ Up! was moving our incentive trip to Hawaii that was slated for July and included a side trip to visit our oldest son who lives in Seattle. So not sure when we will see him either. But this project makes me happy.
Family Frame
I used the tree card and cut it apart to create the framed piece. The frame is 5×7 and I added a piece of Early Espresso card stock in the background. The dark green strip from the card was cut in half so that it would extend across the entire bottom of the framed piece. The rest of the elements are from the kit. I added a photo of our family – it’s old and fortunately my top matches!
Supply List
The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:
- Card stock – Early Espresso
- frame
- photo
Here for you Card
My next project is just a quick card mainly using the stamp set and some of the extra elements from the kit. I’ve read comments that some people didn’t need cards for family so I thought this one was perfect for anyone. The leaves on the tree are stamped multiple times both full strength and stamped off. The grass is just the edge of the leaves stamped over and over to look like the ground. To create the yellow twine I used Whisper White Baker’s Twine and colored it with a So Saffron Dark Stampin’ Blends marker.
Supply List
The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

I hope you liked these alternate ideas for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.
