Hello my friends.  It’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. For July we had the Summer Nights kit and a special Add-On card pack that really stretched the contents of the kit.

This kit was about having a fun summer celebration.  Bags that you can use to decorate a table or fill with treats.  Postcards that you can use for fun invitations.  And with the Summer Nights Add on you have 24 matching card bases and envelopes to create a ton of summer fun.

My ideas use the contents of the kit along with the Add-on to make 3 fun cards.  I shared these cards on a Facebook Live this week and I’ve also uploaded to YouTube – you can find it here –

Stencil Card

For this first card I decided to use the bag as a stencil.  Cut away the back and sides of the card to leave just the front.  Grab your ink and a Stampin’ Sponge, Sponge Dauber or a cotton ball.  Be careful when sponging through the stencil as the paper is thin and could tear.  Move the stencil around the background of the card until you get the number of fireworks that you want on the background.

Supply List

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

  • Summer Nights Add-On kit
  • Card stock – Whisper White
  • Calypso Coral ink
  • Stampin’ Sponge

Firefly Card

The second card I made used one of the Add On card bases and one of the post cards from the kit.  In the kit is a stamp that is a long line – I used it on my envelope for the first card but on this one I manipulated it into a curved shape on my block and used it to stamp the lines for the lanterns.  Stamp the lanterns and the fireflies.  Then use the teeny tiny stamp in the set for the firefly light – yep that’s what that little tiny thing is.  And if you lose it – then just use a marker.  If you love the labels in this Paper Pumpkin kit – well guess what – you can make more using the Tasteful Labels dies from the Annual Catalog – the 3 tags in the kit are the same as 3 of the dies.  I used a different label from the die set on my card for the vellum layer.  And to finish this card the new Iridescent Pearls from the Aug-Dec Mini catalog are a perfect match to this kit!

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

  • Card stock – Vellum
  • Calypso Coral ink
  • Iridescent Pearls
  • Tasteful Labels Dies

Star Card

My final card also uses the post cards from the kit and the card base from the Add On.   With the colors and the starry look I thought the Stitched Stars dies would be a perfect fit.  I also wanted to give it more of a birthday feel so I pulled out my Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set. Using one of the larger stars I cut out a window in the post card and then added smaller stars that were die cut, some of the puffy star embellisments and a few of the tiny gold star die cuts.  When it’s your birthday It’s a Party and its Time to Celebrate.

The Blog Hop Continues

To continue through go and click on the next blog in the list below. Everything worked correctly last month – so I’m crossing my fingers that it will work again this time.

Don’t forget you have until the 10th of the month to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin and get that month’s kit. In August we will be celebrating our every day heroes!  Such a timely kit this year – and it has a more masculine look to the cards so it will be great for those men that are special to you and your family.  I think it is so cool that these kits were designed long before this pandemic hit us – who knew then that we would need this now.  Sign up by the 10th – go here
