Hello my crafty friends.  It is time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is called Bouquet of Hope – it is the February 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit.

February’s Paper Pumpkin kit—Bouquet of Hope—provides a way to offer comfort, care, and condolences to those enduring life’s challenges – and there seems to be a lot of that right now. With beautiful blooms and supportive sentiments, the Bouquet of Hope Paper Pumpkin Kit will soothe sorrow and share sympathy in a heartfelt, handmade way. While you can create nine cards of comfort and coordinating envelopes with this month’s kit, the kit’s exclusive, versatile stamp set can be used any time with additional products to make more cards.

For my idea I wanted to focus more on the stamp set and the beautiful bouquet of flowers.  Every month you will have an exclusive stamp set plus your ink spot left to use for future projects.  I went back and pulled out some of the ink spots from the past kits to use for water coloring my bouquet – you could use any colors that you want.

Water colored Bouquet

For my card today I pulled out a piece of water color paper and I used a Sahara Sand ink pad to stamp the bouquet.  To create an ink palette to use for my ink colors I like to use the clear blocks – the tiny A block is my favorite.  Dab the ink spot onto the block and then use an aqua brush to pull ink from the block.  Sometimes I use the large blocks and dab some color on each corner.  I colored in all the flowers and leaves and then used the Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker to add in the flower stems.

Using the striped card base I created a frame by cutting out an oval with my die cut machine after trimming down the piece to be 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Both pieces are layered onto a Just Jade card base.  Finish by stamping the sentiment on a scrap of the water color paper and cutting it out and then I added a few sequins from the kit.

Supply List

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

  • Card stock – Just Jade, Water color Paper
  • Water Painters
  • Clear Blocks
  • Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker
  • Bumblebee ink
  • ink spots from previous Paper Pumpkin kits – Just Jade, Mossy Meadow, Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride, Poppy Parade
  • Paper Snips
  • Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
  • Layering Oval Dies

I hope you liked this alternate idea for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.
