Yes the wind was an issue and blowing through Ally’s hair. I had the chance to see my niece and nephew the other day when Noah played in a soccer tournament not to far away. While Noah played soccer, Ally went to the climbing tree at the end of the field. I went to take pictures of her and got these cute ones of her trying to keep her hair out of her face. Little girl smiles and giggles – what fun!

I created this for the challenge on mydigitalstudio.net – it was a scrapmap challenge. Go to the site and Like my page and leave comments. The winner of the challenge gets a free download. And I always love free downloads. Speaking of which everyone can get a free download today – look at this cute thing –

you can visit my website – www.monika.stampinup.net – go to the online store by clicking SHOP NOW – and find it in today’s digital downloads. It’s free. There are several other new ones today including more tags that match this one. And some reindeer games – really – not kidding…. go see.
Have a great day!

I created this page using My Digital Studio2 for our beloved Uncle Lamar – Greg’s uncle. Just a quick post today.
Supply list (a new option in MDS2) – I started with a template Thoughtful Overlays 11×8-1/2. And then changed it. I used the color match feature to match the blue in his shirt. This picture of Uncle Lamar is from 2010 at the family reunion at his farm.
Background

Rest in peace Uncle Lamar.

I have a few final thank you’s to get out from orders that I had in the last couple of days of June – thank you to Sabrina and Molly. I keep checking back at my reports to make sure it is still there. And now I’m wondering what happens and what to expect on the trip. I guess I will learn that soon. The Getaway trip is at the end of September to a resort on Hilton Head Island.
Today’s share is another project that I entered in the Artisan Design Team contest. This is my second scrapbook page – this one is an 8×8 page and features a picture of my boys that I took at Easter this year. They were being silly together and it really makes me happy when they are together and having fun and laughing with each other.
The edges of the page are actually stamped with the French Foliage stamp set in various colors and also swiped with the ink pad. I added the three little pool party hearts – one for each of my three boys – there are also three little butterflies that represents each of them flying off in their own directions. As they get older they are finding themselves and where they fit in the world. I did the main journaling on the computer but used my own handwriting for the date and the little quote – maybe that was a bad idea – I don’t have good hand writing and it isn’t very straight and even. I really like this page and the picture of the boys. I need to make another one so I can frame and hang it in my craft room. That is the downside of this contest is making projects your love and giving them to Stampin’ Up! and not getting them back.
Have a good day today! It’s a little cooler here than it was this breaking – we had two record breaking days at 106 degrees – the highest ever. Today its only 99. Stay cool.

For those of you that like designing with My Digital Studio – you need to take a look on page 198-199 in the new catalog at the Collection DVDs. There are 6 to choose from and they all have a collection of stamp brush sets and designer papers plus designer templates. I ordered the Storytime Collection DVD and used one of the designer template pages from it to create this page.

I did make changes to it but starting with a template makes things quicker because all the elements, photos and journaling spots are laid out. I added my photo and then started making changes. Maybe I should show you the original template so you can see where things changed.

So first I had to remove the little strips on the left since they covered up Warren in the picture. And then i moved the curly label punch to the other side since I had more space over there to “hang” something. I decided to replace the papers with some different ones since this wasn’t a school page – but they are still from the Storytime collection of papers. I changed the title and removed the zero. I also decided to use embellishments instead of stamps to add a couple of accents since they were colored in – and I love the little owl and the birds that are in the collection so that is what I decided to use. I think I may go back and add everyone’s name but for now I’ll just keep it the way it is for now. This picture was from 2 years ago when we took a trip to North Carolina – we went out to the town of Blowing Rock to eat lunch and walk around.
I’m still working on my 55 $55 orders – I’ll be making phone calls and sending some more emails next week. If you need something please let me know. Here is the post if you want to see what I’m talking about – and there is a thermometer for completed orders on the side of my blog. I do have some more that are coming but I have a long way to go still.
Oh I almost forgot – yesterday was Tuesday so Stampin’ Up! released some new digital downloads – I still need to go check them out.
Have a great day!

Happy Memorial Day!
Thanks to all who sacrifice for our freedoms. Yesterday we went to Stone Mountain for their Memorial Day Laser Show celebration. We haven’t been in several years to see the show and it was so good. I love that they have some of the original classic portions of the show and then update it with new segments too. It is always very patriotic no matter what day it is. Greg, Tyler and Ryan and I headed to the mountain late in the afternoon and first hiked up the mountain – all the way up the granite mountain!

After we got back down we unpacked the cooler for some sandwiches – boy those are good after that hike. Once we were done we wanted to move and park the car closer to the lawn where we watch the laser show. We made some strategic parking decisions (which turned out to be the best spot ever and easy to leave once the show was over). Then walked to find a spot on the Memorial lawn. It was much more crowded than we expected – it was still about 3 hours before the show. We found some spots to layout our blankets and towels and settled in for some nap time, card playing, people watching, cloud watching, and relaxation – the laser show doesn’t start until 9:30.

If you come to Georgia one of the sites you need to see is Stone Mountain and if you can stay for the laser show during the summer months. Since it is dark the pictures aren’t the best but the real life show is amazing and the changes over the years is amazing. There was also a big fireworks celebration and lots of patriotic music and images were included in the show.

one of my favorite traditional parts of the show – the lasers trace the carvings and then finish the horses and then they start charging

This was new since I have seen the show they now use technology to “finish” the carving on the mountain and show the whole thing. This portion of the show was amazing – as you saw rock “falling” off to create the carving.

I just found this article about the show – click here – it looks like the new show was introduced last year – I think.
I’ll be back in a little while with a Stampin’ project and I’ll have projects all week too. See you in a bit.
