Dress up your Take Out Box

At Christmas time I usually take a little something to a few of our neighbors.  For some years now it’s actually been the same thing every year but packaged in a different way.  I make them an Almond Chicken Cheese Ball and include a sleeve of crackers.  I like to drop them off in the afternoon on Christmas eve and then they can use it that night or Christmas day as a yummy little appetizer.  It’s always a big hit.

This year I decided to use the Take Out boxes in the Holiday Catalog – which have also been included in the Occasions Catalog.  Inside the box is the cheese ball and the crackers.  To dress up the box I used some of the Crumb Cake scalloped Tulle Ribbon – it has been on the Clearance Rack – it was in a Holiday catalog a while back.  Cut a piece wrap it around the box and tie in a quick bow.  Then I added the tags from the November Paper Pumpkin Kit!  Quick, easy and they looked so festive with the blue & silver.

take-out-box-2If you are a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber you can still get this get as a refill – just add it to an order – It includes the supplies for the tags and the cards – just not the stamps or ink – but you can use what you already have in your stash.  Simply Snowflake Refill Item #136919 for $7.95 – supplies for 8 cards and 12 tags.

Cute Snowman Star Tags

I have the perfect tags for your holiday packages and they are easy to make with products you probably already have in your supplies.  Nothing I used is an actual “Christmas or Holiday” item.  It’s a snowman tag made from the Star Framelit.

star-snowmanI needed some tags for gifts that I bought the other week.  I went shopping at the Woodstock Pharmacy – they have some really nice gifts in there and as it turned out I found something perfect for all the girls in the family.  I’m not going to say what I got but I bought all that they had in the store – they had to order more!  As I checked out she asked if I would like free gift wrap – why yes I sure do!  And then since I had 6 of them and it was going to take her a few minutes to wrap them she asked if I wanted a free massage – why yes that sounds really good too.  A little while later I went home with an armful of wrapped gifts that now needed tags.  These snowman tags are what I created to go on my gifts.  Look how nice they look under the tree!

I hope you like these tags they aren’t very hard to make.  We made them in my Holiday Tags, Bags & Boxes class on Saturday.  Everyone loved them.

Sorry that I haven’t posted lately – I thought I was going to have so much more time to get things done these last couple of weeks but somehow I didn’t.  My husband had hip replacement surgery earlier this month – and he is doing great.  Then Aspen got really sick and spent 3 nights at the vet.  I finally go to bring him home and then Magnolia got sick – it wasn’t the same as what Aspen had but I still talked to the vet and got her on the same prescription food and medicine that Aspen was taking.  Now both of them are better too.  I have to make sure all 3 of them get their meds twice a day.  And the dogs have to be fed several small meals throughout the day.  Aspen had a recheck on Friday and they took blood again – they will call on Monday with the results.  Anyway – right now everyone is on the mend (well Tyler seems to have a cold).  Ryan is coming home from school Sunday  – he has one semester of college under his belt.  And Kyle will come home from San Francisco on Monday night.  I’ll be happy to have the whole family here together Christmas and New Years.

Enjoy your time with your families.  Merry Christmas!

I will be trying to post some more projects – but may have to combine some in a post.  I did run into a few technical issues – my camera hasn’t been working since Thanksgiving – not sure what is wrong.  I used my phone to take these pictures.  And now my power cord on my laptop seems to have died – I borrowed Tyler’s for right now – but he will want it back.  And my battery won’t hold a charge so I need the power cord all the time.  It may just be time for a new laptop – Santa did you hear that?

Well let me go on for now.

Wednesday Ryan will be coming home!  Kyle is already here he came in last Thursday about midnight.  I’m so excited to have all the boys home.  It’s not easy having them so far away.  It will be Ryan’s first time to fly alone – and of course it is the busiest day of the year at the airport.  I think I may be just a little stressed tomorrow until I have him in my car!

Scattered Merry Christmas

Hey – 5 days in a row!  yes – 5 days of posts in a row – maybe I can stay on my posting schedule now.  Today I have card #3 from my Christmas Card Stamp a Stack classes.  This idea came from my good friend Cindy Schuster – it was a swap she made for her Artisan Team at convention – I made a few changes from her original – including adding the frosted sequins from the Holiday catalog (they were not available yet when Cindy made her card).

scattered-merry The Smoky Slate later is embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Embossing folder and then use the Whisper White craft ink pad to rub ink over it.  On the envelope I used the edge of the Merry Stamp to add the snowflakes.  Here is a full list of supplies –

MDS Blog Hop – What are you Working on?

I’m back again – my second post as a guest on the MDS Blog Hop!!  Twice a month a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators join together to share their passion for digital designing with My Digital Studio.  My friend Cindy asked me to join them for the month of November!  I’m very thankful to be joining these talented ladies for the second time this month. These ladies are all very talented and have amazing digital projects.  So come hop along and see what everyone has created.  The theme for this week is “What are you working on?” .  Everyone will be sharing what they are currently working on in MDS.

10295772_10201596378183638_8781518809722083584_nI decided I better get started on a Christmas card if I’m going to do a digital card for this year.  The past few years I have made a digital card to send out to our family that includes photos and sometimes some notes about what we have been up to this past year.  Now as the boys are older and moving away it may be more important to keep long distance family posted on what they are up to.  For right now I’m playing around with a 5×7 size post card.  Which gives me a front and back to design.  But I may change my mind before it’s all done.  I also need some family photos of the 5 of us.  With the boys all being here for Thanksgiving that is one of my goals for the weekend!  For now this is what I have for the front – I want a photo with all of us together but for now I have the boys.  Originally I didn’t have the snowflakes on there – I may decide later to delete those.

2014 Christmas Card-001For the back side I wanted to have an individual photo of each of the boys and then Greg and I and I wanted to include the dogs too.  These may not be the final photos that I use.  I wrote a quick note about each of the boys and I’ll let each of them read it to see if they want to add/delete or change anything.
