I love going to the Stampin’ Up! convention and seeing my friends from all over the country. From my very first one when I met my roommate Michele Schmidt until now my little group has grown as we include others we meet along the way. Last year and this year I decided to organize a dinner and swap with those friends that wanted to join me. Not everyone came to convention this year but for those that did we had a fun dinner at Red Rock Brewery the night before convention started.
Here are a few pictures of our group
and look at all the swaps we shared
And this time I decided to try out making a little video showing those swap cards. So here it is
I hope you like it. I wasn’t able to get my editing software on my new computer so this has no edits! And I don’t like the way I sound but maybe to everyone else I sound normal.
Here is another sample out of the catalog. This is from page 14 using the new Endless Thanks stamp set. It’s a quick and simple card.
I used one of the Whisper White Note Cards for this one. It’s a one layer card.
The stamping was done with Wild Wasabi, Lost Lagoon and Tip Top Taupe (ok honestly I don’t have the actual card right in front of me in person – but I think those are the colors I ended up using).
I debated on if the little hearts were stamped or not. I can’t quite tell from the sample in the catalog. I decided to use the Confetti Stars Border punch and punched Watermelon Wonder card stock and used two of the sizes. Add them to the note card with mini glue dots.
stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp, punch, glue, glue, glue and your are done!
The Stampin’ Up! Convention starts today! Inspire, Create, Share 2015 is here. We have check in and bag pick up this morning and then we start! A fun time with friends from all over the US and Canada – I’m not sure if any of our European or South Pacific friends will be here this year. It will be a busy day. Check my Facebook business page for any updates, news and photos.
Part of the fun of convention is swapping – last night I had a dinner and card swap with some of my SU friends and this was the card I made to swap with all of them –
I’ve posted this card already on my blog.
I also have a group swap tomorrow and made this one –
It’s also one you’ve seen before. After I made each of these I was really excited about how they turned out and decided back then that I wanted to use them as my convention swaps.
I have another one I’ll share in a different post and also roommate gifts and some little friend treats – I need to get photos of all of those before I post about them.
If you are a demo a convention come find me and say hi!
I have another Zoo Babies card – it was a new addition to my monthly Card Maker’s class. I’ve challenged myself to always have a card with this set in my monthly class and it was time for something new – this is what I came up with….
Some nice baby colors come together in this card – Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Marina Mist and Smoky Slate. This month I paired the Zoo Babies set with Crazy About You for a Hello Baby card. I love these little animals but I do like to use a Stampin’ Write Marker to give them a little eyeball – it might be hard to see in the photo.
And of course the little punched hearts are made with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Oh speaking of that punch pack – if anyone has my stamp set – Something to Say – it also coordinates with the punch pack and I know I had it but can not find it. If anyone borrowed it please let me know. I’ll have to search again when I get back from convention.
Thanks for checking in today. Convention photos and updates are on my FB page.
Many Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators are now in crunch mode working on swaps to take to convention next week. Finally yesterday my id badge, bag voucher and ribbons arrived in the mail. It seems where I live it comes later that almost everyone else!
I am signed up for two organized swaps – I have 21 cards made for one of those and I need to work on 20 for the other one. Plus I want to make some more swap cards to exchange with other people that I see. I have some roommate gifts to make and then I’d like to create some little treats for my friends. We shall see how much I can get done over the next few days!!
I made this card a couple of weeks ago –
I used the new Thick Whisper White card stock for the card base. I really love it. I didn’t care much to use our regular smooth Whisper White for the card base – I usually use the colored card stock because it is sturdier but this new thick card stock is NICE! I can see myself creating more white on white cards.
Have a great day – I need to get back to my convention swaps…..
Be sure to look at the hostess stamp sets in the back of the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog. One of the most popular hostess sets in this new catalog is the set called Best Thoughts.
I used Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso for the colors on this card. I wanted to keep it soft and neutral.
To create the butterfly stamp the large flower image on a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock and punch out a butterfly using the Elegant Butterfly punch. To create some definition around the edges use the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker to go around the edge of the punch out. Add some Linen Thread to the butterfly.
