Jan 31, 2010 | Big Shot, Circle Scissor Plus, Designer Series Paper, Occasion Mini 2010, Scrapbook Pages, Valentine's Day |
I finished my week 3 scrapbook page for the 52 weeks challenge – so there are 49 more weeks to go! Now to work on week 4. For this page I ended up using several new products from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini catalog. It ended up as a Valentine Page in non-traditional colors.
We celebrate Valentine’s Day a bit differently. For many years now I have used this more as a celebration of all my boys. I cook a surf & turf dinner – crab legs, lobster, steak. I can spend the same or less and give all of us a fancy meal instead of Greg and I going out alone. One year while Kyle and Tyler were in Cotillion we did a formal dinner with all the different silverware and dishes so they could practice what they were learning.
At the end of dinner we have a scavenger hunt for them to find treats and things around the house. I usually create hidden codes or clues that they have to figure out. We started this when the boys were first in Cub Scouts and learning about secret codes. The codes got harder as the boys grew older. About this time of year they start to ask if we are still having our scavenger hunt this year. And this year Greg told me Tyler invited his girlfriend over to spend Valentine’s with us.
Here are the list of Stampin’ Up! Supplies that I used on this page:

Jan 30, 2010 | Big Shot, Birthday, Build-a-Bear, Create with Connie & Julie, Designer Series Paper, Occasion Mini 2010 |
It is time for another challenge at Create with Connie & Julie. This week our challenge was to create Kids Packaging. The items we are featuring this week from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini and Sale-a-Bration brochure include – Something Sweet, Fox & Friends, and Picnic Parade stamp sets, and the Build-A-Bear collection. I chose to create something with the Build-A-Bears – I have had lots of fun with them on other projects and this idea has been bouncing around in my head for a few weeks.
I think it really turned out cute…are you ready to see it? It is a real WOW in person. I wish you could see it in person.

The box is a nice size and you could use it for many different things. Dress the bears in baby colors and use it for a baby shower. Add the die-cut pieces for Easter and make them into Easter baskets, or some other holiday. Use it for a teacher gift – cut top notes and have each student write a note to the teacher and put them all in the box – give it to her for teacher appreciation day or her birthday (or his). Decorate the bears – like cheerleaders and football players or whatever sport your child is in for a coaches gift. This could be lots of fun – just dress up the bears the way you need them.
Do you love it? I have a tutorial for the members of Create with Connie & Julie. It is available only on the Create site! If you haven’t joined the class it is not to late – all the past projects are still there for you to see and we still have lots more to go. Here are the next two pages from my Desktop Calendar – May and June.
My May calendar doesn’t have a picture on it yet – when I decide it will be a small one – mostly because I love this paper! The 3-1/2″ strip of card stock punched with one of the border punches. Then on the bottom are the three die cuts or punches for that month – with a fourth one over on the title strip.

I made a break through this weekend and got all the wallpaper off the walls in the half-bath. Yeah for me! Monday I took Ryan to the orthodontist and guess what – it is time for braces – yep – we scheduled it for Feb. during the school break – won’t that be a fun vacation for Ryan.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you come back again.
Happy Stampin’!

The Heart Shaped Treat holders from Stampin’ Up! are really cute. I made a card for my Valentine class on Friday that uses these cute little holders.
I used a card design from a friend of mine – Michelle Scileppi – she designed this for the circle treat holder and made it at Christmas with the Snow Buddies set. I wanted to use the heart shaped treat cup and make a valentine card.
This card has a short front – I cut 2″ off the front. Then created a slider tag that lets the candy come out on the inside – so you don’t have to tear up the card to get it out.
Something else that I did was create a frame for the heart treat cup. I created the frame by first punching a Full Heart out of a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock. Then I used the Movers & Shapers die and the Punch Windows Heart. Place the negative part of the Chocolate Chip card stock – the part with the heart shape punched out. Place this on the Punch Windows Heart die so that it is centered as best you can. When you cut it creates the frame that fits around the heart cup. I should have taken a picture of that part.
I also used the Punch Windows Modern label to frame the “happy valentine’s day” that is stamped on Pretty in Pink card stock and punched with the Modern Label punch.
The inside also has a piece of Sending Love Specialty Designer Series paper punched with the Scallop Trim Border bunch and then another piece of Chocolate Chip card stock.
Before you attach the paper and heart cup to the front of the card you need to punch the hole for the trap door. I found an easy way to get the hole in the right spot. Punch the Full Heart in the Sending Love Designer Series paper – I did this by pushing the punch all the way up from the bottom and the flush against the right side. Then just lay this on the front panel of the card but don’t glue it down. Now take the 3/4″ punch and slide it in from the side and punch inside the punched out heart on the designer paper – this will position the hole inside the treat cup so the candy can come out. I hope that made sense.
You need small candy like M&Ms or the little cinnamon hearts so they fit in the treat cup and pass through the hole.
The heart treat cup is only glued on the front to the back of the Designer paper. Don’t remove the adhesive backing from the heart treat cup. When you glue the Designer paper to the front only glue on three sides – leave the right side open so that the tag can slide in and close up the hole.
You can order the Heart Shaped treat holders and the Heart punch directly from me – visit my online store by clicking the SHOP NOW button on my website.
This was a fun card and my class on Friday was a lot of fun. The other projects we made were these:

Jan 22, 2010 | Big Shot, Designer Series Paper, family, Scrapbook Pages |
On Thursday morning I finished my next scrapbook page for the 52 weeks of stress-free scrapbooking. So that means there are 50 more to go….I hope I can keep up. I meant to get this one done earlier this week but the week got away from me. The third one should be out on the blog today – so I’ll have to go check for it.
Kyle is my oldest son and he turned 18 this past November. I can’t believe the time has passed so quickly. He is camera shy or at least he tries to hide every time I have my camera out. Maybe it is the age because Tyler has started to do the same thing. Ryan on the other hand still likes to have his picture taken.
So the point is I don’t often get pictures of Kyle and even fewer of him looking at the camera. These were some I took on his birthday. If you can read the words on his t-shirt it says “I’d like to change the world – but I can’t find the source code…”
I figure one day Kyle will change the world – we’ll just have to wait and see what it will be that he does.
Here are the Stampin’ Up! Suppplies that I used:
- Kraft card stock
- Write Stuff Specialty Designer Series Paper
- Chocolate Chip card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Extreme Elements stamp set
- Sense of Time stamp set
- Chocolate Chip craft and classic ink
- 1-3/8″ circle punch
- 1-3/4″ circle punch
- Big Shot Die Cut machine
- Go Go Boots Sizzlit Alphabet dies
- Matchbox XL Die (for the label)
- 1-1/4″ square punch
I think the page is pretty straight forward. I used the square punch to cut the notch out of one strip of the designer paper – but you could do that with scissors too. The Matchbox die has three labels on it and I used one to go behind my circle that has the quote on it. I also inked the edges of that circle by pulling it through my Chocolate Chip ink pad.
A nice masculine looking page. 2 down and 50 more to go…..
Thanks for visiting! Have a great weekend.

Here are some more pages from my Desk Top calendar class. Here is the original post.
This is the March page and the list of Stampin’ Up Supplies:
- So Saffron card stock
- Pretty in Pink card stock and ink
- Old Olive card stock
- Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper stack
- Eyelet Border punch
- Big Shot die-cut machine
- Simple Flower Embosslit Die
- Billboard Alphabet Sizzlits Strip die
- Calendar Alphabet & Numbers stamp set
- Chocolate Chip ink
- Stampin’ Sponge
- Eyelets – So Saffron
- Crop-a-Dile
After the flowers are die cut I used the sponge and Pretty in Pink to highlight the embossing – you probably can’t see it in this photo.
And the April page and list of Stampin’ Up! Supplies:
- Pretty in Pink card stock
- Sahara Sand card stock
- So Saffron card stock
- Taken with Teal card stock
- Old Olive card stock
- Sweet Pea Designer Series paper stack
- Scallop Trim Border punch
- Big Shot die-cut machine
- Billboard Alphabet Sizzlits Strip die
- Little Leaves Sizzlits die
- Birds & Blooms Sizzlits die
- Calendar Alphabet & Numbers stamp set
- Chocolate Chip ink and marker
I used the marker to put eyes on the birds. And I realized once I added the photo to this post the wing on the one bird got bent in the wrong direction – it should be back like the others – I guess he was just flapping his wings….
Sorry this post was so late today – apparently I was busy all day – I went to jazzercise this morning after taking the boys to school. Then came home for a short while – spent a long time trying to get Aspen outside to do his thing. He hurt his back again last night while I was gone. So he doesn’t want to be picked up, he doesn’t want to do the stairs, he doesn’t want anyone near him but he still needs to go out… I finally got him out the door – convinced him with some chicken!
After that got a haircut, came home and finished my project tutorial and blog post for Create with Connie & Julie – it will post to the class site on Friday. If you haven’t joined the class it’s not too late. Just click the logo on my side bar and it will take you to the site to sign up. All the projects that have been posted will still be available to anyone that joins.
Then later I picked up Tyler from school, then we picked up his glasses, went by Haley’s house, stopped at the grocery store, went home, took Ryan to tennis, cooked a quick dinner and went to a band parent meeting. Aspen does seem better tonight – I gave him his pain meds and muscle relaxer and they seem to be helping. Not that you wanted to hear all of that but sometimes it helps me to see that I really did do something today when I write it all out.
Thanks for stopping by today!
