August Paper Pumpkin Alternate card idea

I used the Big Shot and the Star Framelits to create an alternate card using the stamps and ink from the August Paper pumpkin kit.

I stuck with the same concept as the kit. I used a piece of designer paper underneath the whisper white piece that has a “window” cut out with the star framelits. I added the little dot stamp and a greeting. Corner rounded the edges and tied on some Bakers Twine.

Big Shot Bundles

The Big Shot special this month includes a free bundle of a stamp set and coordinating Framelits when you purchase a Big Shot. Or you can get the bundles at a discount. This card uses one of those bundles and has been very popular at my classes this month.

I used the Floral Framelits and the Daydream Medallion and the colors are Crisp Cantaloupe and Soft Suede.

I’m trying to post from my phone so we shall see how this works.

It took about 4 tries to get the picture added.

Starburst Card using the Big Shot

For the month of August there is a BIG SHOT special going on.  Read more about it here.  So my next few days of posts are going to be Big Shot projects.  This first one features the Starburst Framelits and I’ve created a shaped card.

I also used the Circle Framelits to cut a window in the front of the card and the ring of Designer Paper.

A fun shaped card!  Try making a shaped card with other framelits.  Cut your card base and score it.  Fold it in half and then position the framelit so it doesn’t cut all the way through the folded edge.  It’s that easy!

Bobble Head Hot Diggity Dog

I loved the new Hot Diggity Dog stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog.  Of course if you are a cat person then you need to look at the You Little Furball stamp set instead.  But I’m a dog person so I bought the Hot Diggity Dog set.  Several years ago I created a bobble head Dog card, and then later a bobble head Frog card, well when I saw this set I decided to create a new bobble head Dog card.  I think they are fun!

bobble-head-dogIt’s harder to “see” in a photo but the little head bobbles.  How do I do that?  It’s not that hard really.  I stamped and cut out the head – which is easy with this stamp set since the heads are all separate.  The body is stamped on the circle underneath.  Punch a hole in the circle and put a brad through it loosely – you want the brad to be loose so it can move around and wobble.  Attach the head to the top of the brad.

Oh – and I also discovered that we have a dog bone punch.  Really – we do.  It’s the new little flower in the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack – just snip away two petals on opposite sides and you have the perfect dog bone!  I added two of them to this card.

The card itself is made from the Circle Card Thinlits die and the Big Shot.  I was also featuring the new Lost Lagoon In-Color on this card.  Love that color.

I also wanted to use the stamps and ink and make another card idea.  And this is what I created.

july-pp-alt-cardMy Paper Pumpkin subscribers were able to make this card free at my July Card Maker’s class.  Everyone else was able to make it as part of their 6 cards for the class fee.

If you are a current subscriber you can now order refills for this July 2014 kit.  Not a subscriber – then hurry up and join you can use the code HALFOFF2 and 50% off your first two months.  You need to subscribe by August 10th if you want to start your subscription in August.  JOIN HERE.

These are the additional supplies I used to create the alternate card idea –

Flower Patch Notebook

The new Photopolymer Stamp set called Flower Patch makes some really pretty flowers.  And since it has a coordinating set of framelits you don’t even have to fussy cut them – just shoot them through the Big Shot.  Don’t have a Big Shot yet – then get ready to get one in August.  There is a Big Shot special coming up and you won’t want to miss it.  Plus when the Holiday Catalog comes out you are going to LOVE it and it is packed full of stamp sets with matching framelits!  Are we getting spoiled?

This is a cute project taken pretty much from the Stampin’ Up! Catalog.  I just used Black notebooks that I happened to have in my stash.  I think the flowers really pop off the black!

flower-patch-notebookFor each flower and the leaves I used two different ink colors – a lighter and darker color that go together.

So Saffron & Crushed Curry

Pear Pizzazz & Old Olive

Coastal Cabana & Bermuda Bay

Crisp Cantaloupe & Calypso Coral

I also added the in-color sequins which are in the center of each flower – attached with a mini brad.
