I received a sweet little box as a gift from my friend Kelly at convention – it had a Reese’s cup inside (it’s not in there anymore). While the box sat on my craft table I realized that one of our small embellishment containers will also fit inside – like the ones that have our sequins in them! And as it turns out I had just bought some of those to send as a surprise to some of my downline for achieving a certain sales mark. How perfect! I decided to create my own little box for the sequins and this is what I came up with.
The box was made from the Neutrals Designer Paper Stack – I used the Basic Black Polka Dot pattern and the Envelope Punch Board. Did you know you could use the envelope punch board to make a little box? I started with a 5-1/4 inch square piece of paper. Line up one side on the punch board at 2-1/4″ mark – punch and score and then on the same side line it up at 3″ mark – punch and score again. Now turn to the other three sides lining up the little tail with each score line – punch and score. You have two score lines across each side and end up with 4 little squares where they cross on each side – cut these away. Fold on the lines and glue into a box shape. I put my container inside before I glued – I found it easier to hold the shape with something inside.
I decorated the top with a vellum butterfly and a gold foil butterfly, plus gold tread and a blossom accent in cucumber crush. I added a tag that said Well Done! since it was for my downline.
I loved this little box so much we also made it in my “Time to Fly” class. You could use it as a treat to send to your college student – job well done on your first week back to school. My boys like Reese’s cups so this would work for them. I might change to match their school colors and perhaps make it a bit more masculine for them.
