Apr 7, 2011 | family, My Digital Studio, Scrapbook Pages |
It’s Prom season around here and the boys high school had theirs the other weekend – during one of our storms. Tyler went with one of his long time friends – Afton. They were part of a group that met at one of the girl’s homes and then they all went to dinner together and then to prom. Last night I decided to put together a quick My Digital Studio page with a few of the pictures of Tyler and Afton.
I used a photo template that was in My Digital Studio that happened to suit my photos – one vertical and two smaller horizontal photos. I also have some group shots from everyone but those will be added to a second page. I decided to use Basic Gray for the background since Tyler had the silver tux accessories. Looking back I wish we had gotten silver ribbon on Afton’s corsage – oh well. I added a mat in Basic Black around the photos and a drop shadow.
The digital stamp is Baroque Motifs – they are all in Basic Black but the ones in the background I changed to be 50% opacity which makes them look more gray. There is also a background overlay that gives it a more distressed look – it was also changed to a lower opacity – I think I started with 50% and then went back and made it even lower – just play around until you get the effect that you want. I added the journaling and move my stamps so they didn’t cover any of it. Finally I added some pearls at the corners just because.
Did anyone watch American Idol last night? I did while I worked in my craft room on Easter invitations for my family (I’ll share those later) and the final packaging of the March Ribbon shares (I’ll share that too). I have no idea who to pick as going home – I really thought everyone had a good night. Which is something that normally doesn’t happen when there are still 9 people in the competition. Usually someone has an off night. If I were picking my least favorite – I would say Haley – but I’d hate to see another girl go since there are only 3 left. But I did say the boys were much stronger this year than the girls and so far that seems to be true. Another guess for the bottom 3 might be Stephano (although I do think he probably sang his best yet). Not sure about who else – I guess it could be any of them – who is the most/least popular may be the deciding factor because right now they all seem talented. Just my thoughts – ignore them if you don’t care.
Back to spring cleaning – we are tackling Tyler’s room today – oh boy! Maybe I should take before and after pictures of his…..he may not appreciate that.

Apr 6, 2011 | Bingo |
The 5th Spring Bingo Winner! Congratulations to Jeanette!
Jeanette will get the From the Garden stamp set – it is a retired stamp from a few catalogs back.
So that completes Spring Bingo. Thanks to everyone that played.
To all my loyal Blog Followers I’ll be working up a new Blog Bingo to start probably in May – so be sure to keep checking back for sign ups for that.
Have a great day everyone!

Apr 6, 2011 | Bingo, Cards, Occasions Mini 2011 |
I wanted to make a card using the Sew Suite stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog – but I was having trouble coming up with ideas. So instead I turned to my fellow demonstrators for inspiration. Checking Stampin’ Connection and looking through blogs until I found some ideas that caught my eye. This card today is an idea from Heather Klump. I liked the softness of her card. Here is mine –
I made a few minor changes from what the original card but the look is basically the same.
My Spring Bingo players – I found one more winner after yesterday’s post. It was Bethany.
Congratulations!
Bethany will get the Birthday Bakery stamp set.
That’s four winners so far. How about one more?
So how about one more piece today and we’ll see if that gets us the last winner….

If more than one person gets Bingo it will be the first person that sends me the email that gets the last prize. So be sure to check your cards and email me right away if you have Bingo. Good Luck!
Exciting news – I am registered for the Stampin’ Up! Convention in July! Early Bird registration opened today and I got on first thing and completed my registration. I have my flight and hotel room. I’m so excited to be going! And this year I’ll get to walk across the stage (assuming they continue that tradition – I sure hope so) for my 5th anniversary – yeah! And I’m going to work hard these next few months so maybe I can walk across for my annual sales too! I can’t wait to see my demonstrator friends in Utah!

Apr 5, 2011 | Bingo |
Sorry about the break from the Spring Bingo – I’m still looking for two more winners – I hope you didn’t throw out your cards. I had planned to finish at the end of March but I didn’t get all 5 winners yet. So let’s try one more piece and see if we can find them.

Apr 5, 2011 | Big Shot, Birthday, Cards, SU Ribbon, Thank You, UDI Color Challenge |
This weeks Utah Diva’s Color Challenge was much easier for me than some of the others that we have had. I could have made lots of different things with these colors. Early Espresso, Real Red, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla.
Click on this link to go to the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge blog. There you can see the creations from the entire design team and add a link to your creation if you decide to play along. This week I decided to use the Sneak Peek stamp set – Four Frames that you can earn free as a workshop hostess or purchase with a $20 order during the month of April. All four images in the stamp set fit inside the Decorative Label punch so you can make quick cards with it. My project is a whole set of cards with a matching box that holds the cards and the envelopes.
The box is actually two boxes glued together – one that holds the 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ cards and the other holds the envelopes. On the front panel you’ll see one of the four images from the Four Frames stamp set. I added the Vanilla Rosettes to the front. To color them I tried first using my Real Red reinker with some water and soaking the rosettes – this didn’t really work with the Real Red – I think other colors would be ok; but the red just looked like blood to me. So then I tried just coloring them with my Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker and that gave me a better color – they actually look Real Red now. This method leaves a few uncolored spots unless you really take time to get your marker in between all the layers of the flower. I attached them with a small drop of Crystal Effects to the front of the box. The cards are two different designs – one is the same as the front of the box and the other I just used the ribbon differently but the parts are the same. So here are pictures of all the cards:

I hope you’ll visit the UDI site and play along with us this week.
