UDI Color Challenge #15

It’s Tuesday and time for the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge – this is #15. Click on this link to go to the  Utah Diva’s Color Challenge blog.   This is the inspiration that Gretchen gave us this week –

These are not my idea of Christmas colors but I think you could do a Christmas project with them – but I didn’t – I went with a different Holiday.  This was another idea from my issue of Paper Crafts magazine.  With that in my hand, my sneak peek items from the upcoming mini catalog and Sale-a-Bration brochure in my craft room and the new Filled with Love promotion in my mind – I ended up with a card that has a Heart theme to it – perfect for Valentine’s Day!

There are several sneak peeks in this card – a new stamp set called Valentine Defined that will be in the Occasions Mini Catalog starting on January 4th.  A new Designer Series Paper – Ice Cream Parlor – that is one of the Sale-A-Bration product choices beginning on January 25th.  And another Designer Series Paper – Love Patterns pack – this one you can get now as part of the new Filled with Love Promotion.

The Filled with Love Promotion runs from December 17, 2010 – January 24, 2011.  Valentine’s Day is the second biggest holiday for sending cards, and during the Filled with Love promotion, you can get an exclusive package of Designer Series Paper perfect for creating cards for family, friends, classmates, and more!    And you get a FREE package of Bitty Buttons–a $4.95 value–when you purchase an exclusive Filled with Love Bundle. Contact me for more details or click on the picture below to go to my website.

Now for some more information about my card.  The grid paper on the card is not one of the Designer Papers – I actually created it using a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, my Stampin’ Write Markers, a ruler and my Stampin’ Up! Grid Paper.  I cut my card stock to size and lined it up on a piece of my grid paper.  I used the ruler for my straight edge and varied the colors of the lines using the colors from the color challenge – Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo.

Once my colored grid paper was created I added a strip of Melon Mambo card stock to the back that was punched with the Scallop Border Punch.  I punched hearts out using all of our Stampin’ Up! Heart punches and various Designer Series Paper.  These were all folded in half and then attached to my card front – only in the center.  I used a marker to add a faux zig-zag stitch to the center of each heart.  The punches make for quick decorating.

At the bottom is the Love You stamp – with the heart punched out and layered on top.

I hope you like this little sneak peek.  Now it is your turn to play with these colors – then go to the UDI blog and add your creation to the linky section.

UDI Color Challenge #14 with a sneak peek

Today is another Utah Diva’s Color Challenge – We are on week #14 click on this link to go to the  Utah Diva’s Color Challenge. Here is our inspiration for this week:

I just received a new issue of Paper Crafts magazine.  And one of the articles in there was that “gray” was the new black.  They used gray, white and yellow for several examples in the article.  So I decided to use one of those ideas for this color challenge.  Another thing that I just got was my pre-order items for the upcoming Sale-A-Bration promotion (starting late January) and the upcoming Occasions Mini catalog (starting January 4th).  It’s like an early Christmas present getting to open that box and see all the new products that are inside.  It was hard to decide what to get and what to wait on.  I tried hard to be good.  I’ll probably go back and get some more though – just too much fun stuff to choose from it’s hard to stop!

Are you ready to see my creation using the colors for today’s color challenge – Old Olive, Basic Black, So Saffron and Very Vanilla – AND a sneak peek for a new Sale-A-Bration stamp set?

The stamp set that I used on this card will be in the Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration promotion – it is called Punch Bunch and you’ll be able to earn it FREE beginning on January 25, 2011.  My picture doesn’t quite show the So Saffron card base very well.  It was snowing this weekend when I took this picture so the light was reflecting funny.  This card made me think of spring – I’m already looking forward to spring and it isn’t even officially winter yet!

This card is a finished 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ square card – the base is So Saffron, then a layer of Very Vanilla and then a layer of Basic Black that was embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.

The stamped image was stamped twice – once in Old Olive and punched out with the Scallop Circle punch and then once in So Saffron – this one I cut out the flowers to add on top of the first one.  A little brad is in the center of the flower.  I just love our stamp sets that coordinate with our punches – I seem to gravitate to those first when I see them in our catalogs.

I hope you like this little sneak peek.  Now it is your turn to play with these colors – then go to the UDI blog and add your creation to the linky section.

Very Vintage Two-Step Bird

Hi everyone!  Did you miss me?  Sorry I have been MIA.  I have been working on my Stampin’ Up! Artisan Award entries – nothing like waiting until the last minute.  I think I get more creative with a deadline bearing down on top of me.  Since Easter I have been frantically trying to finalize my last few projects, get them photographed (since I didn’t make duplicates), write the supply lists and carefully packaged to send the Stampin’ Up!  So as of this morning they are on the way – postmarked by April the 10th according to the rules.  Now it is time to wait – by the end of May they should have decided on and contacted the winners.  I can’t show you any of the projects so you will have to wait until later  – sorry.  And then I shopped and packed for our little Spring Break trip.  Right now I’m sitting in the mountains of North Georgia!  It should be a nice few days for a little get away.

Now are you ready for a project.  I created this card for last months Birds & Butterflies class.  The card is an additional design to a set of cards I created for the Create with Connie  & Julie class that I guest designed for earlier this year.  So if you particpated in that you can add this card to my Vintage Card Kit project.

This is a long card – the ones that fit in the small open end envelopes.  The card base is So Saffron 6″ x 6″  folded in half with a Chocolate Chip piece of trim that was punched with the Scallop Trim border punch.  The punch was part of the Sale-A-Bration rewards and isn’t available right now but it will be back in the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog coming out in July.  The Very Vintage Jumbo wheel was used on the base of the card and I also used the Color Spritzer to add some spritz to the card – you can do this just to the base or at the end so everything gets some spritz.

The Old Olive Strip was sent through the Big Shot Die -Cut machine with the Perfect Details texturz plate – I think this gives the look of lattice.  I stamped the vine on it too and sponged it with Old Olive.  The flowers and bird are punched from the Rich Razzleberry  Patterns Designer Series Paper.  The flowers are just circles that have been scrunched up.  I added a yellow Rhinestone brad to the center of each.  I thought these looked like Morning Glories.

I hope you like it.  To create a matching envelope – use the wheel across one end and then stamp the vine.

Thanks for stopping by today!  And the bluebird had 4 eggs on Wed afternoon.
