Displays at Convention

One of the fun things about convention is to see all of the displays that they have set up.  They have things set up inside Memento Mall – which is the special store that we get to shop in to get SU logo products.  The first day they limit almost everything and then usually the second day the limits are lifted.  This year I got to get in early with special VIP privileges for getting a recruit at the beginning of July!  I didn’t have to wait in line – I walked right in, did my shopping and waited briefly to check out.  I was so caught up with that I didn’t stop to take pictures that first day when the store was full of product.

Here is the new shirt – and I did buy one so you will see me in it.  This one did not sell out.  There was also a t-shirt and it did sell out quickly.  The laptop bag – yep I got one of those – sold out.  And there looked to be a few of the craft totes left – I did not get one because I have the one I bought at last years convention.

These are the flowers on the display table where they had bags of Taffy in Stampin’ Up! colors.

Other items that I bought included some cute new shopping bags, rulers, pens, collapsible trash bins.  Many of those sold out too.  The trash bins were very popular!  And I brought back a surprise for all of my downline!  Do you want a surprise too – then consider joining my team and I’ll have something for you too.  The new starter kit in the mini catalog is only $175 and is full of exciting new products.

There are also displays throughout the Demonstrator Resource Center which is a fun place for us to get lots of ideas.

Sample “rooms” featuring Decor Elements and stamped elements.

This year Stampin’ Up! created a special place called the sweet shop.  OMG you should have seen the stamped creations in there.  Stuff looked good enough to eat.  The displays are always coordinated on a color or theme.  The sweet shop had Halloween, Christmas, Birthday, Office organization, Wedding themes and more.

Lots of ideas on treats and sweets and fun project ideas.  I had mostly closeup pictures of ideas I might want to use but here are a few of the displays in general.

Lots of fun new holiday ideas.

My favorite were the chocolates – they looked yummy enough to eat even though it was all made out of paper, ribbon and accessories.

Fun stuff!  Have a sweet day!

Upsy Daisy Swap

This is my last swap for the Stampin’ Convention this year.

I had the Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black and Very Vanilla combination on my mind and decided to work with that.  I made several different attempts at the swap before deciding on this one and I am happy with the result in the end.  The card base is Cherry Cobbler and I stamped the Upsy Daisy set randomly on the front of the card – stamping multiple times before reinking so there would be multiple shades.  I did the same thing on the Very Vanilla square.  The square is on a Basic Black mat which was attached over a piece of Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon.

I added my greeting on the front which is from the new stamp set called Perfect Punches.  It is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and punched out with the scallop oval and then layered on a Basic Black wide oval.

I finished this swap on the airplane flying from Atlanta to Salt Lake city.

Today is Sunday and convention is over and I am on my way back home.

I hope you had a great week – I sure did!

Quick Convention Update

My camera battery died on Thursday so I didn’t have a lot of pictures – I have to get some from my roommates.  But I did have a couple to share with you.  I took one of the convention bag – this is the bag that all the demonstrators got for attending the Stampin’ Up! Convention .

Thursday night was the awards night and the entertainment.  The entertainment arrived in their bus which drove right through the convention center into the main stage area.

The entertainment was Charley Jenkins.  They are a local country band from Utah.  They were entertaining us with their music and the fun thing about the entertainment each year is that they must get a challenge from Shelli to do two things – they have to stamp or create something and they have to write/sing a song that is related to Stampin’ Up!.  The results are always fun to hear and see.  The little song was actually good and he used all the Stampin’ Up! terms correctly – maybe they give them a catalog or list of words – I’m not really sure but we always laugh.

For the craft item Charley scrapped a guitar – literally took Stampin’ Up! supplies and decorated a real acoustic guitar and then gave it away to one lucky demonstrator.  How fun was that?

One of his band members is competing on America’s Got Talent – it was a young girl that plays the fiddle and she is supposed to be on the show so I guess we’ll have to look out for her.

That’s all for right now – we had a jam packed day today (Friday) and I’ll tell you more about that later.

Convention Check-in Day

Hi – I’m back with a quick Stampin’ Up! convention update.  Wednesday was check-in day.  We got our convention bags but I don’t have a picture of it – I’ll have to do that today.  We took a tour at the Stampin’ Up! Corporate Offices and warehouse.

We shopped at Memento Mall – I even got to go in early for the VIP treatment for getting a recruit in early July – Thanks Sherri!  They always have cute stuff that we just “have to have”.  New shopping bags, a laptop bag, pens, rulers, shirts, charms, and more. Here is Becky with some of her new shopping bags.  Becky is our new roommate this year and she is from Ohio.  I’m also rooming with Michele and Diane again this year and they are from Iowa.

Wednesday night we had a Groovy Flower Power Party with lots of games, face painting, demonstrations, prizes and more.  Diane won one of the prizes.  Michele and I tried out for the game show – the Stampin’ Up! version of Minute to Win It.  I got my stack of cups done under a minute – the pictures are on Michele’s camera which I’ll get later.

We got a photo op with Shelli Garner and her husband Sterling in all our groovy attire.

I saw a lot of friends and met new ones too.  We had a blast!  Sign up as a demonstrator this year on my team and you can come with me next year.

PEACE OUT!

I’m in Salt Lake City

I arrived in Salt Lake City yesterday for the Stampin’ Up! Convention.

Here is a view from our hotel room of the Convention Center.

We did not go in the convention center yesterday but walked around Salt Lake City to Temple Square and then the Gateway Mall.  We ate dinner and came back to our hotel.

This picture is my roommates and I inside Temple Square by one of the fountains.  Michele, me, Diane, and Becky.

Look you can see my skinned knee from when I fell last week at the GA Tech orientation – right in the middle of campus in front of all the students and parents.

This morning we will head to the convention center and check-in, get our bags, visit Memento Mall, tour the Stampin’ Up! corporate office and then Diane and I have a couple of classes this afternoon.  I’ll try to be back later in the week with more updates.
