Today’s post has two special products in it. One is the Merry Patterns stamp set – a special stamp available through the end of October (that means Oct. 31 st is the last day). You can earn it free with a qualifying party or order.
And the second is the brand new Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers coming out on November 1st!
I decided to put them together into this card base on the one in the photo above.
I used the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends Markers to color the candles. And Daffodil Delight with just a little Pumpkin Pie on my candle flames. The paper is Be Merry Designer Series Paper that is part of the sale going on this month (it also ends Oct. 31st).
Be sure to add the Stampin’ Bl;ends to your Christmas Wish List – there are 27 of them. 12 colors each with a light and dark marker, plus an ivory and a bronze and a color lifter. Tell your loved ones you want these for Christmas. But if you can’t wait – the will be available for everyone to order on November 1st.

There is also a brand new exclusive hostess stamp set available for qualifying orders now through October 31st. Its a fun set with words, images and patterns ready for the holidays or other times of the year. The candles would be perfect for a birthday card!
Be sure to look at the hostess stamp sets in the back of the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog. One of the most popular hostess sets in this new catalog is the set called Best Thoughts.
I used Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso for the colors on this card. I wanted to keep it soft and neutral.
To create the butterfly stamp the large flower image on a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock and punch out a butterfly using the Elegant Butterfly punch. To create some definition around the edges use the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker to go around the edge of the punch out. Add some Linen Thread to the butterfly.
This is a quick easy little treat for Halloween. This was one of the projects in my last hands-on class which was all about having fun outdoors. What’s more fun outside than Glow sticks?
The bracelet sized glow sticks fit perfectly in our 1″ x 8″ skinny cellophane bags. I slid in two glow sticks and the connectors and sealed up the bag. I had purple glow sticks so I decided to use purple on my tag.
For some added fun I pulled out my Tangerine Tango Embossing powder. I stamped the trick-or-treat owl from the Warmest of Wishes stamp set (the hostess set in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog) with VersaMark ink on some Basic Black card stock, covered it with the Tangerine Tango Embossing powder, heat set it with the heat tool, and then punched it out with my Owl punch. Isn’t he cute with his black mask?
I punched a piece of Elegant Eggplant card stock with the big 2-1/2″ Circle punch. On the bottom I stamped the spider web image from the Wicked Cool stamp set in Black ink – it is a bit hard to see in the photo but it’s there. And above that I stamped the “have a wicked halloween” from the same set in VersaMark and embossed it with the Tangerine Tango powder. To attach to the glow stick bag just punch a hole in the corner and tie on with some Basic Black Taffeta ribbon.
I attempted to take a picture of it in the dark with one of the sticks glowing – not the best picture but you get the idea. I think these would be fun to had out at Halloween or for a party – get them all glowing and put them in a pot for the kids to pull out.
Can you believe Christmas has passed and the new year is almost here? How long will it take everyone to remember to write 2011 instead of 2010? I’m excited for January to get here because I’m excited to be attending the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference! Not much longer now…… but lets move on to the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge – this is #16. Click on this link to go to the Utah Diva’s Color Challenge blog. This is the inspiration that Gretchen gave us this week –
So this made me think of Valentine’s Day and Chocolates. I even thought about just creating a box that looked like the cake in the picture. But I still had my Paper Crafts magazine lying on my craft room table and there was a card sketch in there that I wanted to try – so that is what I ended up with – actually a birthday card in these colors. Real Red, Soft Suede, Regal Rose, and Blushing Bride. Here it is:
I used several designs of Designer Series Paper – Love Patterns pack (the special right now) – In-Color Hostess Paper Pack – Neutrals Patterns Paper Stack – I didn’t have any Regal Rose designer paper so I used card stock to add the Regal Rose to the card. The triangles are very easy to make – I used the large Star punch – and cut off two points on either side of the point I kept – the other end which then has a notch in it from the remaining two points was tucked under the card stock. I tucked them all under different amounts so they appear to be different sizes but they are really all the same.
My card base is actually the Soft Suede but I cut the front short to be only 1-1/2″ and then added the points and then a Whisper White front panel to complete the front of the card. A Real Red piece of the Love Patterns Designer paper, punched with the Scallop edge border punch was added to the left size. And the stamp is from Afterthoughts stamp set – a Level 1 Hostess set.
Now it is your turn to play with these colors – then go to the UDI blog and add your creation to the linky section.
