The new Swirly Bird stamp set in the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog has lots of possibilities. You’ll be able to use it for a variety of occasions all year long. I had the privilege of making display samples using the stamp set for the OnStage Live event in Salt Lake City. I shared all my ideas by color because that was our “assignment” and how the display boards were organized for the event. Today I just wanted to share one post showing the variety of ways I used this one stamp set.
My samples used only the stamp set and I was very excited to see that there was a coordinating set of Thinlits – called Swirly Scribbles! With the two together you can create such a wide variety of projects.
Thanks for visiting today.

My last set of OnStage display samples feature the Mint Macaron In-color. I thought this color was perfect for this scrapbook page of a photo I took on our Whale watching trip in Alaska.
I used a few on the new products on this page:
- Swirly Bird stamp set
- Mint Macaron Small Striped Ribbon
- Affectionately Yours Designer Washi Tape
It might be a little hard to see the washi tape – I added it on the Mint Macaron Designer Paper in between the stripes.
This next one is a sweet little card that would be a perfect for a baby – a little sailboat theme for a boy perhaps. Use for thank you’s or create invitations.
New products include:
- Swirly Bird stamp set
- Mint Macaron Thin Striped Ribbon
The next card is an idea I saw online from another demo, an easy way to use little scraps of designer paper or make little squares by stamping on them or adding washi tape.
New products on this one:
- Swirly Bird stamp set
- Affectionately Yours Washi Tape
I did use candy dots on some of these samples and they are retiring – darn it. But we are getting some new epoxy shapes that I hope I will like just as well. I can’t wait to get them once the catalog is live in June.
My last project is the final panel of the Seasonal Calendar.
I used the Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe on this panel with the Sheltering Tree stamp set. I’ll do a separate post with all of the calendar panels and show you how it stands up and I’m hoping to include the pdf of the actual calendar portion in case someone else wants to make one.
Thanks for stopping by I hope you liked all the display samples that I created. I hope I get the opportunity to do it again in the future.

Today’s projects feature the In-Color Delightful Dijon. The first one is a 12″ x 12″ Scrapbook page. I thought this color was perfect for Tyler’s Graduation this past December.
Tyler is my middle son and he graduated from college and started his first job. He lives not too far from us in a house with a friend of his from school. Here are some of the things I used on this page:
- Number of Years stamp set and Large Numbers Framelits – these are bundled in the Occasions catalog – but in the new catalog they are no longer a bundle – so get them now
- Timeless Textures stamp set – it’s also in the Occasions catalog and will be in the new catalog too!
- 2015-2017 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack – all the Delightful Dijon prints
- Metallic Foil Doilies – those are staying in the new catalog
- Delightful Dijon Mini Striped Ribbon – coming in the new catalog
This next card is one of my favorites that I created using the Swirly Bird stamp set.
The flowers are stamped with So Saffron for the solid part and Delightful Dijon for the swirly part and then I hand cut them out. The small centers are done the same way. I used the Stampin’ Write Marker to add the little doodle swirls coming out from underneath. Supplies include:
- Swirly Bird stamp set – coming in the new catalog
- Birthday Blooms stamp set
- Basic Rhinestones
This next card is perfect for my dad or my brother who are both sailors. I was pretty excited about the sailboat pieces in this Swirly Bird stamp set.
The parts of the boat – are made up of 4 different stamps in the set. And the waves are the same image that I used for the kite string on an earlier card. Supplies include:
- Swirly Bird stamp set – coming in the new catalog
- Sunburst Thinlits Dies
- Linen Thread
- Party with Cake stamp set
My next card also uses Swirly Bird – can you see all the different things you can do with this one stamp set?
This time I actually used the bird! The Baker’s Twine is actually white and I used my sponge to hold it into my Delightful Dijon ink pad so I could dye the twine. You just have to let it dry before you try to add it to a project. Supplies that I used:
- Swirly Bird stamp set
- Sheltering Tree stamp set
- Tree Builder punch
- Botanical Builder Framelits
- 2015-2017 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack
- 2-1/2″ Circle Punch – this one is retiring but you can use the new Layering Circles Framelits instead
I actually ended up with an extra Delightful Dijon project. One of my calendar panels –
No new products on this one – it’s the Sheltering Tree stamp set like the other panels. Just using different colors and changing the tree for the Autumn season. I’ll do a post showing the calendar and how it stands and I’m planning to include the calendar so you can print your own. So check back for that.
Thanks for stopping by today.
May 11, 2016 | Big Shot, Cards, Display Samples, Embossing, In Colors, OnStage |
I’m back with more of my Display Samples from the OnStage Live event in Salt Lake City last month. Today I’m going to share my creations that feature the Watermelon Wonder In-Color along with some new products coming in the 2016-2017 Stampin’ Up! Catalog.
For my customers – those that aren’t local the new catalog should be coming to you in the mail. For those in my Stamper’s Club I’ll have them with your club orders. And the rest of my local gals I’m planning a Catalog Kickoff/pickup party (and a BOGO sale) for the first weekend in June. More to come on that later.
On to the samples:
This is a soft flowery card. I clear embossed the little roses onto the white card stock. Then stamped the leaves in the Cucumber Crush ink and covered it quickly with clear embossing powder and heat set. I used the Watermelon Wonder ink and an aqua painter to paint around all the little roses. Then went around all the flowers and leaves with Soft Sky. Here is a list of some of what I used:
- Swirly Bird stamp set – coming in the new catalog
- Birthday Blooms stamp set – in the Occasions catalog and it will be in the new catalog
- Tree Builder punch – that is the vellum piece where the words are
- Silver Thread and Silver embossing powder
In my samples today you will see the versatility of the Swirly Bird stamp set. Here is another card using the same set, with a totally different look.
This idea just popped into my head one day – the image reminded me of those big swirly lollipops that you see at the candy store. I stamped with Watermelon Wonder ink on a piece of Pink Pirouette card stock and covered it quickly with clear embossing powder and heat set it. I wanted it to look a little shiny like a lollipop. The bubbles underneath are also from the Swirly Bird stamp set. The die cut pieces are from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits. Here is a short list of what I used:
- Swirly Bird stamp set – coming in the new catalog
- Affectionately Yours Designer Washi Tape – coming in the new catalog (that’s the red striped piece on the right side
- Mini Treat Bag Thinlits
- Banner Triple Punch
And here is one more card with the Swirly Bird set:
It’s another kite – remember the one I made in Cucumber Crush. Here are some of the things I used:
- Swirly Bird stamp set – coming in the new catalog
- Hearth & Home Thinlits – for the window
- Brick Wall embossing folder – for the wall background
- Tree Builder punch – for the clouds
- Greetings Thinlits – these are retiring and unfortunately sold out
And my last Watermelon Wonder project is another panel for the 3D seasonal calendar.
This is the spring panel.
- Sheltering Tree stamp set
- Old Olive Baker’s Twine
- use the new set Project Life Date It for “SPRING” if you don’t have the Project Life Day to Day set that I used here.
Those are my 4 projects featuring Watermelon Wonder.
Thanks for stopping by.

I have another set of display projects to share with you today. This time I’m sharing my Cucumber Crush projects from the Stampin’ Up! OnStage Live Display boards.
This is a treat pouch that is quick and easy to make. Just cut 6×6 pieces of the designer paper and use Tear & Tape to adhere 3 sides together – leaving the top open. I did pull out my little crafty sewing machine to add stitching but you don’t have to do that. I have three brand new items on this one! Can you guess what they are?
- New Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine – we have 3 new colors and this is one of them.
- New Washi Tape – it’s across the bottom of my tag. Its part of the Affectionately Yours collection which has 5 different designs.
- The Swirly Bird stamp set – yes the little flower and stem are from that set.
Keep your eye out on all my samples so that you can see all the different ways I’m using that one stamp set called Swirly Bird. I’ll probably end with one post just showing the flexibility of that stamp set.
This White card – it’s the Thick Whisper White card stock – love it – is such an easy one. I used the new Affectionately Yours Washi Tape on it – this time 3 of the 5 designs. The circle is stamped with the Endless Thanks stamp set in matching colors. I do see that one of my rhinestones slipped off the second yellow flower – it’s caught on my twine bow. So just imagine it in the right spot.
This is one of my 3D projects – part of a Desktop Seasonal Calendar – I’ll do a post showing you the full calendar and how it works later. Right now this is just one of the panels featuring the Cucumber Crush In-Color. Nothing new on here but since the Project Life Day to Day stamp set is retiring – I used that for the seasons – you’ll want to substitute the new one coming in the catalog called Project Life Date It – I like it even better unfortunately I didn’t have it to make this project.
And here is my last Cucumber Crush project – a card featuring the Swirly Bird stamp set – yes really! There are piece of a kite in it and the center of my sun. There are no words in the set however so those I got from various other stamp sets. There is another new product here – it’s the Cucumber Crush Mini Striped Ribbon. I used it here for the bows on my kite tail. I don’t know if you can see the shimmer on the sun rays but I added Wink of Stella to them – you know on a bright sunny day its like everything sparkles in the sun – I was trying to get that look.
The new products will be available in the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalog that starts on June 1st.
Thanks for visiting. I’ll be adding these to Pinterest and to Stampin’ Connection. You can follow me on Pinterest by going here.
