Today – December 9th – is National Christmas Card Day. You would think that it would be something I already knew since I make cards but no. This is the first time I’ve heard of it.
CHRISTMAS CARD DAY – December 9th
Each year around this time, friends and families begin mailing their holiday cards. Christmas Card Day serves as a reminder to get your stamps, envelopes, and cards together so you can share your holiday cheer. Are you making your cards this year? I did not get cards made this year – well I got some made but not enough to send out to everyone. Since we moved I’m working on a photo card instead.
These days everyone mails a variety of cards at Christmas time. In our modern world of social media some just post online or send emails and messages but cards are still around too. There are handmade cards, store bought cards, photo cards, Christmas letters, post cards, business cards and even New Year’s cards. Just remember it’s a way to say “I’m thinking of you” no matter what form it comes in.
Here is a fun set of cards that I made with products from our Mini Catalog. These were really fun with non-traditional colors. Some of these products are on the LAST Chance List – so be sure to order them now before they sell out.
Happy Holidays to you!
♥ Monika

Hello my friends. It’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop. A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is – Joy to the World. It’s a special kit that will be offered globally in all of our markets. So Stampin’ Up! friends around the world will be able to enjoy this kit.
This kit makes 8 beautiful Christmas cards. And includes die cut pieces in three languages – English, German and French. That means you can easily create cards for friends and family around the world that might speak these other languages. My family is from Germany and my mom would love to send some of these out. I have a kit saved just for her.
I created some variations on these cards using the pieces in the kit. One I added a different stamp set so it didn’t need to be a Christmas card. The design and colors of the kit make it easy to use for holiday thank you and birthday cards too. You’ll notice the size of this card is different – it’s what our European friends use as a standard card size. Enjoy trying something different.
Wreath Card
This card uses the pieces from the kit just in a different combination. I tied the twine directly around the wreath for a nice bow. And I didn’t use either of the embossed pieces – just stuck with the gold banner and white label for my greeting. It’s a super quick idea.
Supply List
The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:
none – everything was in the Paper Pumpkin kit
Thank You Card
For this second card I decided the pieces would make a pretty non-Christmas card. I pulled out a stamp set called Beautiful Autumn from the Aug-Dec Mini Catalog and used the Thank You on the white tag. The die cut flowers are beautiful and since there were two per card if you use only one on a card that means you can make double the cards. The Embossed piece looks like the retired Cable Knit embossing folder we used to have – so if you have that in your craft room you could create more pieces for additional cards – or substitute something else.

Happy New Year! I wish you all a happy, healthy and fabulous 2020.
I have a fun card to share today to celebrate the new year or a birthday or any other special occasion. It combines some products from the Holiday catalog with the Annual Catalog. Jan. 2nd is the official end of the Holiday catalog and the year-end close out sale. Be sure to order what you want before it ends. I’m using the Stitched Stars dies that are in the Holiday catalog and will be a carryover item. The coordinating So Many Stars stamp set will however retire. I used one of the samples in the catalog as my inspiration for this card but made some changes by using a different stamp set.
I did use the the Mercury Glass Designer Acetate on the big star. But just a silver foil start would work too. The background has a stamped swirl and the words that are on the label are from the For the Love of Felt stamp set in the Annual Catalog. I cut the swoosh of stars which gives me the back ground behind the large star and also the 5 smaller stars all in one pass through the die cut machine.
